A mind map helps when the links express relationships rather than merely collecting headings. Build it around a question you need to answer.

A practical sequence

  1. Clean the notes enough to identify topics and unclear fragments. Mark uncertainty explicitly instead of inviting the tool to repair it with invented facts.
  2. Choose a central question and request a small number of main branches. Require a phrase explaining each link, such as causes, depends on or contrasts with.
  3. Compare the map with the lecture sequence and textbook. Add missing conditions and remove connections that are only word associations.
  4. Close the map and recreate its main structure from memory. Use any missing branch as a prompt to revisit that section of the course.

An example to adapt

Map brief: Organise this unit around the question why the system changes. Limit the first layer to five branches and name the relationship on each connection.

Use the example with a small, permitted section of your own material. Keep the official syllabus and the original source open beside the output. The purpose is to make your thinking visible: what you understood, where you hesitated and which passage resolves the doubt. A useful session should leave you with a corrected note or a question for your teacher, not just a longer collection of generated text.

What to check before you finish

Visual neatness can hide a weak explanation. A branch is useful only if you can describe the relationship without pointing at the diagram.

Choose one question you could not answer at the beginning and attempt it again without looking. If you still cannot explain the idea, reduce the task and revisit the source. Do not use a generated summary as a substitute for required reading or submit generated work contrary to your course rules.
